TEMPSC LIFE BOAT ESCAPE CHUTE SYSTEM MES OFFSHORE
RSS are a Houston based safety company who manufacture and supply a comprehensive range of on/offshore escape chute MES systems. In 2005 RSS developed an extensive range of fully integrated escape chute systems for fixed and variable height applications and to date have over 200 MES systems operational offshore globally for all major owner, operators. RSS are constantly developing new systems and utilizing new technologies designed to enhance safety of life at sea.
RSS offer our unique TEMPSC MES integrated system, this system was designed to help overcome the fatalities that have been seen due to life boat winch failures during launch and deployment to sea level with full compliment of evacuees on board. RSS Sister company Consolidated Risk Solutions carried out an analysis of the reported failures and due to there findings RSS designed the TEMPSC system.
The system utilizes a small chute container that is mounted above the life boat station and stair access is provided that evacuees can enter the chute from this platform, the system uses our three layered chute system that is fire rated to over 1100 degrees C’ providing maximum heat protection for evacuees whilst in the chute column. The bottom of the chute is attached to the life boat access door and the life boat is lowered to sea EMPTY with no evacuees on board, the life boat winch is stopped 1 to 2ft above sea level dependent on sea condition to stop the life boat being dragged, the escape chute has lowered with the life boat and evacuees now slide down the vertical grip style chute enter the life boat and take there seat position.
After a full Muster Count has been taken and all evacuees have descended the chute and are on board the life boat the chute is released and the life boat lowered the last 1 or 2ft to the water, the life boat now moves away from the hazard awaiting recovery as per standard procedures.
